The Kelowna Professional Firefighters Charitable Society are hosting the Second Annual 9/11 Stair Climb on Wednesday in honour of the 343 members of the New York Fire Department who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

Firefighters from across the Okanagan will congregate in Kelowna on Sept. 11 dressed in full equipment to climb the equivalent of 110 stories, the height of the former World Trade Center towers.

Each firefighter participating will make a minimum $20 donation to the Kelowna Professional Firefighters Charitable Society with proceeds going to Wounded Warriors Canada to support first responders and their families.

The event will begin at 8:46 a.m. at the Landmark 6 Building at 1631 Dickson Ave.
