Born and raised here, I have deep roots in the South Okanagan West Kootenay region. I understand the vibrant character and challenges experienced within the region.
I have worked hard to earn the reputation as an elected leader who effectively builds consensus and brings people together. First elected to the Okanagan-Skaha school board in 1992, I was re-elected six times and served nine of my 19 years as Chair.
My husband Bob and I raised our four children while running a successful local business for 39 years. We understand the value of a hard-earned dollar and the pressure to balance work and family. Like many of you, we pinched our pennies and worked hard to plan for our retirement years.
I was elected for three terms as President of the BC School Trustees Association and served all boards of education in BC. In this role on the provincial stage, I was a strong and effective advocate for public education, students and staff during a time when public education was under threat of funding and service cutbacks.
Most recently I returned to school to earn my Masters Degree and served six years on the Okanagan College Board of Governors, three as Chair.
I am proud of the Liberal platform’s commitment to make life better for Canadians. We have the best plan to invest in seniors, parents and the middle class. I am also proud of our plan to continue to invest in the environment and infrastructure.
The South Okanagan West Kootenay region has diverse needs and issues. We need an elected leader with a proven track record of delivering results. We need to elect a party that will continue to grow the economy, grow the middle class and work to combat climate change.
