BC Wildfire Service continues to battle the Bernard Creek Wildfire
The BC Wildfire Service continues to use a modified response as they fight the Bernard Creek Wildfire, which covers about 4.7 hectares and is burning west of Mount Loki, across Kootenay Lake fro Kaslo.
Crews have been working to contain the western perimeter, while applying a modified response to the eastern perimeter due to rough terrain in the area, which means a combination of direct and indirect attack.
Fortunately the rain has helped.
The Bernard Creek wildfire is currently exhibiting low fire activity. smoke may still be visible, but officials say it poses no threat to communities or structures at this time.
While there are no restrictions or closures of the hiking trails in the area, the fire service is asking people to stay away if possible, since they're being used by fire crews.
