Burton Wildlife Enhancement Project expected to get under way today

The Burton Wildlife Enhancement Project is scheduled to get under way today.

BC Hydro is constructing a wildlife enhancement project in the Burton Flats.

The project is expected to benefit nesting and migratory birds as well as other wildlife affected by reservoir operations.

They'll be creating, protecting,  or enhancing habitat for Western Toads, birds, and amphibians.

Construction will take place in two phases, with phase one expected to start today and be complete by the end of October.

Meanwhile BC Hydro says they're also conducting numerous studies under the Columbia River Water Use plan to better understand the impacts of the Arrow Lakes Reservoir Operations on a number of non power values including fish, wildlife, recreation and archaeology to help with future decision making.
