Chronic Wasting Disease a concern in BC after reports in Montana

Chronic Wasting Disease was first recognized in the 1960's, but hasn't been much of a concern in B-C until recently.

That from Provincial Wildlife Veterinarian Helen Schwantje.

The infection affects members of the deer family, and was recently reported in Montana near the Canadian border.

Schwantje says it's mandatory for hunters in certain areas along the B-C/U-S border to submit for-testing until November 30th.

She adds participation has been great so far and all the testing has come back negative.
