Some motorists not getting the school bus rules in the Nakusp area
Some big concerns in the Nakusp and Slocan Lake area when it comes to motorists passing school buses when their lights are flashing and the stop sign is out.
Corporal Jaime Moffat says children getting off the bus need to be kept safe, but they've had at least one report a week since the beginning of the school year that motorists are passing busses, particularly on area highways with rural driveways.
Vehicles have to stop for the bus in all directions and remain stopped until flashing lights are off and the stop sign is retracted.
Fines for failing to stop for a school bus are 368-dollars, and 3 points.
