Unity sailing today to draw attention to Kootenay Lake Ferry concerns

Residents affected by the Kootenay Lake Ferry Labour Disruption are getting together for a Unity sailing and rally to draw attention to the importance of the ferry to the region.

Janet Wallace is an artisan in Crawford Bay, along with being the Chamber Treasurer..

She says the unity sailing is being put on by Our Ferry Matters and the hope is to get all three parties to the table, including the province.

She says they're hoping to put pressure on and bring some of their stories. One girl missed her gold medal soccer game on the other side, as well as people have missed medical appointments.

Wallace says it's a critical link for the area, and for the artisans in particular in Crawford Bay, it's been a really tough Fall.

According to Wallace,  stories will be taken to the opening of the legislature next week and shared...letters or stories can be shared on the Our Ferry Matters Website.

The Unity sailing and rally starts at Crawford Bay at 3pm, and on the Balfour side at 4pm Friday, October 4th.
