Visitor numbers up at the Rossland Museum and Discovery Centre

2018 was a good year for the Rossland Musuem and Discovery Centre.

Libby Martin is the President of the Rossland Historical Museum and Archives Society.

She says local visits were up 30 percent, and visitor attendance surpassed 10-thousand.

Their initial goal was just to pass the 2008 numbers of 73-hundred visitors and that's when they still had a mine tour.

She says they've increased their winter programming and events which helped.

Phase 1 of their renewal project also increased space in the Rossland Museum and Discovery Centre.

Meanwhile they're hoping to have Phase 2 complete by 2021.

That project includes creating a mine experience and new and improved space and entryway.

They've started fundraising and looking for grants for that, on top of the 700-thousand dollars announced by Teck for the project last year.
