Boundary Region of RDKB Under Flood Warning
The Boundary area of the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary is now under a flood warning.
The BC River Forecast Centre sent out the notice Monday morning warning river levels have exceeded bank-full or will exceed bank-full imminently, with flooding expected in areas adjacent to the rivers.
The Forest Centre based the warning on the amount of rain that fell in the region on Sunday and anticipate increasing flows in the Kettle River to cause flooding to low-lying properties.
The RDCK issued Evacuation Orders Sunday affecting four homes on Granby Road and one on Victoria Avenue in the city of Grand Forks, with separate orders for six rural properties on Beatrice Street in Johnson Flats and another seven in Manly Meadows on Manly Meadows Road.
Regional officials suggested the weather could be turning in their favour this week with daytime high temperatures in the low twenties and little rain.
Close to 2,300 residents living in over 1,100 properties across the regional district were put on Evacuation Alert on Friday and were asked to be ready to leave on short notice.
