Broadband Committee hoping locals will check connection speeds

The Regional Broadband Committee is hoping residents will test their Internet connection speeds around the basin and Boundary.

Chair Rob Gay says there's a shortage of accurate and quantifiable data around the region.

According to Gay, the committee has been trying to bring affordable high speed Internet to a lot of the rural areas that haven't been served by the major Internet service providers, but they need data to prove that some areas don't have the level of service that is sent out in Canada.

The online portal will give them the information.
He says the information will also help them show eligibility for federal and provincial connectivity and granting programs.
