Electrical Fault Halts Lead Smelter Operations Briefly at Teck

An electrical failure in the Lead Smelter halted operations for about an hour Monday morning at the Teck Trail Operation.

Community Relations Leader Jayne Garry said employees left their work stations and reported to a mustering area while crews worked to restore power.

She added the alarms triggered by the power outage at about 7:45 continued until the all clear was given to employees to return to their work areas in the plant.

Garry said normal operations resumed just after 9 a.m., and there was no risk to workers or the community.
