Smokies Gain Experience and Depth in Trade with Salmon Arm

Smokies Wolford

The Trail Smoke Eaters have picked up a pair of veteran forwards in a trade with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

20-year-old Noah Wakeford (in photo) is heading into his fourth BCHL season after scoring 18 goals and 32 assists in 2019-20.

The native of Okotoks, Alberta, has 108 career points in the league.

Coalson Wolford had 21 points in 41 games during his rookie season with the Silverbacks and proved to be a key penalty killer with a solid net front presence on the power play.

The 19-year-old from San Jose, California, moved up into the Jr. A ranks after putting up 90 points in 126 games at Notre Dame College in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA league.

The Smokies gave up 20-year-old forward Matt Osadick and future considerations in the deal.

Osadick had 4 goals and 7 assists in 16 games with the Smoke Eaters last season after coming over in a trade last January with the Merritt Centennials.
