Two Men Escape Baseball Bat Attack With Minor Injuries

Trail RCMP said Saturday morning’s break-in and baseball bat attack on two young men in Fruitvale appears to be a case of retaliation.

Sergeant Mike Wicentowich said investigating officers determined two suspects assaulted the 20-year-old Fruitvale man and 21-year-old man from Coquitlam in a residence in the 17-hundred block of First Street after a brick was allegedly thrown through a window of a home in Salmo.

“We are conducting further investigations with assistance from the Salmo detachment to determine the sequence of events,” said Wicentowich who added the two victims are lucky to have escaped with minor injuries.

“Sometimes people don’t realize that this is not like in the movies where you hit someone with a bat and they get up and they walk off, usually that results in quite traumatic injuries.”

Wicentowich pointed out police have identified the suspects and charges could be pending against all four people involved.
