Fire continues to grow in the mountains north of Oliver

The  Eagle Bluff wildfire north of Oliver is burning out of control...and it's growing...rapidly!

As of 10 p.m. Tuesday eveing, BC Wildfire Service indicated it had grown to 600 hectares.

As of 7:28 this morning, BC Wildfire said the fire was 900 hectares in size.

BC WIldfire says the blaze experienced significant growth as a result of extreme conditions and due to the terrain that it is burning in.

Fire crews were on site battling the fire through the night...80 personel on site today....Eight helicopters as well as airtankers are continuing to support ground crews. 

If the fire begins to advance down the slope toward the communities along the south end of Gallagher Lake, the personnel on site will begin controlled burn operations to remove the combustible fuels between the community and the fire perimeter.

An evacuation alert, issued early Monday morning by the Regional District .... remains in effect.

The RDOS alert includes 206 residential homes, RV parks, mobile home parks and recreational campsites.

And update this morning...That evacuation alert has been expanded by the Osoyoos Indian Band to include the Senkulman Business Park.
