Suspicious person in Penticton

On May 5th, 2020, at 5:30 p.m., a man was seen driving his vehicle up and down a Penticton street. The man pulled over and spoke to a female who was working in her front yard.

The man told the female she “looked pretty”, at which time the female told him to leave. The man departed without issue. Officers are wanting to identify and speak with the man.

He’s described as Caucasian, 30 to 40 years of age, black hat and shirt, driving a silver Ford F-150, unknown licence plate.

Shortly thereafter, residents on the Penticton Indian Reserve reported a man driving a car had pulled up beside several teenagers walking.

The driver asked the group if they had cigarettes, and after a short conversation, asked if they needed a ride. The teenagers declined, as it was clear he was intoxicated by alcohol and, or, drugs.

The man drove off and was subsequently located by officers and arrested. He was found to be grossly intoxicated.

The man was held in custody until he was sober. At this time, except for the impaired driving, no other criminal offences are known to have taken place.

Both incidents are not believed to be related.

Should anyone have information, they’re encouraged to call the Penticton RCMP, 250-492-4300, or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
