Boil Water Notice rescinded for Sunnybrae Water System

The Boil Water Notice issued for the Sunnybrae Water System in response to a leak in the water intake pipe has been rescinded effective Tuesday, February 4.

Water samples from the system confirm safe, acceptable drinking water quality.

A leak in the system's main water intake line was discovered in December and, following weather-related delays, repairs were completed January 28, 2020. The leak in the water line was causing sediment to enter the intake pipe resulting in higher turbidity levels in the water supply. The Boil Water Notice was implemented because high turbidity can interfere with the water treatment plant’s disinfection process causing an increased risk of illness.

Repairs to the Sunnybrae Water System's intake line have been tested and indicate that the problem has been resolved. Water system users should be noticing an improvement in the clarity of their water.

The CSRD thanks water system users for their patience and understanding while the system was under repair and while the water sampling tests were being conducted.
