City Set To Improve Lake Access Downtown And In Canoe
New projects to improve Shuswap Lake boat access for the City of Salmon Arm..
Mayor Alan Harrison says the City will upgrade docks that extend from the Wharf "We're replacing one of the large docks used by boats from Sea-Dog Rentals, the present one that's there is old and it's just not that safe."
Harrison says it's not a cheap plan "Replacing docks is expensive, it's in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to do the work and to do it properly, but the good thing is when you replace it with quality it lasts for a long time."
The Mayor says that also planned are efforts on the Canoe Beach boat launch "We want to make it easier for boats to get in and out in Canoe, because we know that at low-water a lot of boats can't use the Salmon Arm dock and they go to Canoe, so we're making it easier and safer to get in and out there."
As for his timeline hopes on the work in Canoe, Harrison says "We're hoping to have that one done for next summer."
