CSRD supports furnace replacement at Red Barn

The Eagle Valley Arts Council is another step closer to replacing the heating system and furnace at the Red Barn Centre in Sicamous after Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) Directors approved funding for the project.

The Board authorized a contribution of $26,320 from the Sicamous and Electoral Area E Economic Opportunity Fund towards replacing the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in the facility.

The Eagle Valley Arts Council owns and operates the Red Barn Centre, which is a community hub for many arts and cultural programs in the area. Activities at the centre enhance tourism and provide direct community economic benefits to residents of both Sicamous and Electoral Area E.

"I'm happy to support this," says Rhona Martin, Director of Electoral Area E (Rural Sicamous and Malakwa). "This building has serviced the greater community for many years. There's lots of interest with the arts, as well as many other functions. This is a facility that is well used by the whole area."

Sicamous Mayor and CSRD Director Terry Rysz also echoed the importance of the facility to the community, with all Directors unanimously approving the financial contribution.
