A mountain rescue for Columbia Valley Search and Rescue on Thursday.

A 24 year old man and 22 year old woman had been reported missing earlier in the day.

Scott Chaffee with Search and Rescue has more on the pair "They were trying to make their way from Fernie to the Whiteswan area using backroads, and they were following Google Maps directions."

He says that the pair had been stuck in the woods for a week "No injuries, they were well prepared. They were on a camping trip so they had a bunch of food with them, sleeping supplies, and warm clothes.

Chaffee says they were found from the air "They'd made a couple of signs in the ground - used a big orange tarp to make it bright and visible. They also made a help sign and used some grass and vegetation to highlight that."

He says they did the right thing by staying in one spot.
