Fair Posts Great Numbers Despite Dicey Weather
Iffy weather but great numbers for the annual Salmon Arm Fair over the weekend.
Fair Coordinator Jann Durocher has the rundown, saying "It was amazing. We actually had 50% more admission on Friday than last year - It's the highest on record that we've ever had."
In comparison to another year with rough weather.. Durocher says "If we look back on 2017 when it was rainy - we were up 20% from then."
She also notes that reports of lightning hitting the Ferris Wheel on Saturday were off-base "Our Security saw it on Facebook and said it was sort of an optical illusion.. the Ferris Wheel never got hit by lightning - it was actually quite a ways away. We didn't get any strikes on the fairgrounds."
We don't yet have an update from our RCMP on their calls near the Fair from the weekend.
