Several sightings of a grizzly bear in Revelstoke over the past week.

Maggie Spizzirri with Bear Aware is tracking the animal, saying "We've had a grizzly bear that was spotted eating grapes in the Farwell Park area. Right now the grizzly is in the Bridge Creek area, which is where the salmon make their yearly run."

She says there's no need for any action "He's in the Bridge Creek area and feeding on Salmon - that is their natural habitat - it's all forested in that area and he's not getting into garbage at this time."

Spizzirri says the big bear could help with garbage-hungry black bears "Those black bears are likely going to be pushed out of town for a couple of days, so hopefully that will be a good thing for them."

She does note that most years do see a grizzly somewhere around town.
