Man Presumed Drowned After Shuswap Boat Collision

One person remains missing after a Sunday night boat crash on Shuswap Lake near Canoe.

Fred Banham with Royal Canadian Marine Search and Resue has word on the call "The incident itself must have happened right around 8pm, and we got a call-out for four people in the water and a possible drowning."

33 year Ryan Hartmann is now presumed to have drowned, and Banham has word on when their search was called off "Our boats were returned to base around 2am, so the search was probably called off around 1:30am."

Banham also has details on the exact location of the collision "Say halfway between Annis Bay and Canoe. Probably in the middle of the lake across from Herald Provincial Park, maybe a bit north."

He tells us that a 25 year old woman was treated for injuries "One person was injured. Our Tolonen crew had a B.C Ambulance crew on board, and they administered first-aid to that injured individual, and transported her to Canoe where she was taken to hospital."

The RCMP are now handling this file, but have yet to provide updates on any search efforts today.
