Sparkling Reviews For Revamped Margaret Falls Area
A triumphant return for the Shuswap's Margaret Falls.
Over two years of work to fix the area is now done.
Salmon Arm Mayor Alan Harrison says even though it's not within the City, he's pleased "We have guests and relatives that come to our house and the first thing they do is walk out to Margaret Falls, so we're so pleased to see it reopen and it looks fantastic."
As for a review, Harrison says "10/10. It's very safe, it's really easily accessible - which is important for seniors and those with scooters - and yet at the same time you really feel like you're out there in nature."
Harrison took the time to credit Area C Director Paul Demenok for his work "He pushed not only to make sure the work got done, but done properly. It's good for our whole area, Salmon Arm, Area C - the whole Shuswap benefits from Margaret Falls."
Shuswap company Spooner Electric and Industrial handled the work.
Craig Spooner says that Fisheries rules and the winter months meant a small work window "It was pretty much a three month window every year."
Spooner says that nature was against them from the start "Started out I think two years ago with the removal of all the logs and debris, and we had it pretty clean, but the next spring we had another flood and all the logs and debris from above came down. That delayed us pretty much another year."
Margaret Falls and nearby trails reopened on Friday.
