Winter Tire Regulations Set To Begin Tuesday
B.C's annual winter tire regulations begin tomorrow.
These rules cover most Interior highways, including all of Highway One.
Sergeant Rob Haney with RCMP Traffic Services in Golden has the yearly reminder "It's mandatory to have either and M/S rating or a Mountain/Snowflake on your tires."
He says it's a $109 fine for running the wrong rubber "You have to have a minimum of 3.5mm of tread depth in that tire surface."
Haney also has background on what he often sees on Highway One "A lot of people do have M/S tires on their vehicles, but we would prefer to see them have the Mountain/Snowflake, because of the seven-degree temperature where the rubber is a little softer, and adheres to the road better."
