Andrew Samoil appointed new Prince Rupert School Superintendent
The Prince Rupert School District will soon have a new superintendent.
Andrew Samoil, who was appointed Assistant Superintendent earlier this month, will take on the district's top job at the beginning of August.
Samoil began his teaching career in Alberta, before moving to Haida Gwaii and then to Thompson Rivers University at Kamloops.
After spending some time creating an online learning program in the Northwest Territories, he moved to Prince Rupert in January 2013 to assume the role of Director of Instruction for Information Technology.
The Superintendent's job became vacant three weeks ago when Irene LaPierre was asked to leave by the Board of Education.
Since then, the position has been filled on an interim basis by former superintendent Sandra Jones.
