PNG announced a proposed 60 million dollar project
Pacific Northern Gas announced their intention to re-activate capacity on the Western Transmission Gas Line, enabling the delivery of natural gas volumes to meet the needs of new industrial customers. A detailed engineering assessment must be undertaken before the proposed 60 million dollar project can be conducted. There will also be a need to provide two new compressor stations and pipeline sections to meet the increased capacity.
In a news release, Director of Business Development, Brick John, emphasized the benefit to the 20,400 area customers with a reduced product delivery rate.
Another anticipated benefit is the creation of additional jobs. He clarifies that the project is in its early stages and requires several regulatory hurdles to be undertaken.
Applications for the project will be submitted this winter with authorization expected by the summer of 2021. PNG will be hosting virtual information sessions for the public on Wednesday, November 25th and Monday, November 30th, between 6:30 and 7:30 pm.
