WorkSafe, Coroners Service Investigate Death at Brucejack Mine
WorkSafe BC and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the death of a worker at the Brucejack Mine near Stewart.
The Coroners Service says the investigation involves a man in his 50's, who was fatally injured in an incident reported just after 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
WorkSafe investigators are on-site, trying to determine the cause of the death.
The victim was working for Tsetsaut Ventures.
No name has been released.
Pretium Resources announced last summer it had poured its first gold at the Brucejack Mine.
Ramp-up operations are currently underway at the mine, 65 kilometres north of Stewart, with a goal to have steady-state production in mid-to-late 2018.
