En lice 8 fois, Lizzo part avec une longueur d’avance pour la 62e cérémonie des Grammy Awards qui aura lieu le 26 janvier 2020, à Los Angeles. Billie Eilish et Lil Nas X suivent avec chacun 6 nominations pour ce gala animé par Alicia Keys.
Lizzo est notamment nommée dans les catégories Album de l’année pour Cuz I Love You (Deluxe) et Chanson de l’année pour Truth Hurts. La rappeuse de 31 ans est également en nomination dans la catégorie Meilleur nouvel artiste.
De son côté, Billie Eilish est en lice dans les catégories suivantes : Meilleur nouvel artiste, Album de l’année (pour When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?) ainsi que Chanson de l’année et Enregistrement de l’année pour Bad Guy. Finneas, le frère de la jeune chanteuse de 17 ans est de son côté en nomination comme Producteur de l'année grâce à son travail sur le premier album de sa sœur.
Lil Nas X se démarque quant à lui dans les catégories Meilleur nouvel artiste, Album de l’année (pour 7) et Enregistrement de l’année (pour sa chanson Old Town Road interprétée en duo avec Billy Ray Cyrus).
Plusieurs artistes canadiens sont par ailleurs en nomination, dont Shawn Mendes pour son méga-hit Señorita avec Camila Cabello (Meilleure performance d’un duo/groupe), Michael Bublé (Meilleur album vocal traditionnel) et Drake (Meilleure chanson R&B et Meilleure chanson rap).
