Google has released it's 'Year In Search' Lists for 2019


Google trends has released it's top search data lists for 2019 from around the world. You can see what was trending overall, as well as in categories such as news, sports, TV and movies, recipes, 'who', 'why', 'how' and more.

They have also created a touching video around the theme of heroes which you can watch below.


Canada's top 3 overall highest trending searches in 2019 were Toronto Raptors, Kawhi Leonard and Canada Election Results.  In the Canadian News section, both Bianca Andreescu and Don Cherry made the top 5 list of trending searches.

In Canadian Music related searches, Old Town Road (Lil Nas X) took the top spot with Shallow (Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper - A Star is Born) in second and 7 rings (Ariana Grande) in third place.

When it came to movies,Canadians most searched for Avengers Endgame, Captain Marvel, and Joker. For television, the top 3 trending searches were Game of Thrones, Stranger Things and Chernobyl.

Top trending searches related to diets and recipes showed that plant-based, intermittent fasting and keto diets are the most frequently Googled by Canadians. The top 3 recipes on the list were Beef Stroganoff, Brussel Sprouts and Coleslaw.

In the United States, the number one spot for all overall trending searches was taken by Disney Plus, the new streaming service that launched in November of 2019. The most frequently searched item at the top of the 'What' list says "What is Area 51?", in relation to the viral Facebook event from last year encouraging people to storm the highly classified United States Air Force facility - although it was originally intended as a joke and the event never really came to be.

President Donald Trump did not make the top 10 list of most trending searches for 'People' in the United States.
