BREAKING | Missing children found safe at Ridgeway cottage in good health

A huge sigh of relief after five children from Niagara, who were the subject of an Amber Alert yesterday, have been found safe and sound.

Constable Phil Gavin says at 1 p.m. this afternoon detectives from the Chilld Abuse Unit received a tip which led them to a rental cottage in the Crystal Beach area of Fort Erie.

Officers located the father, 49 year old Ian MacDermid, and a 22 year old woman.

Shortly after, officers were able to find the missing children, Evalyn, Mattias, Sovereign, Eska, and Magnus MacDermid inside the cottage.

Gavin says the children appeared healthy, but they will have a medical assessment.

The father is not under arrest, but the investigation continues.

Gavin is thanking the entire province for help locating the children, saying the information which led them to Fort Erie, came directly from the Alert.

He says a tip about the red Camry led police to the area.
