A heat warning remains in effect for Hamilton today.

Environment Canada representatives says the hot and humid air may result in deteriorating air quality and cause the health index to approach the high risk category.

Residents are reminded to stay hydrated and find cool places to rest.

City officials are opening cooling centres to help residents beat the heat.

Never leave people or pets in vehicles on hot days.

Signs of heat illness can include swelling, rash, and heat exhaustion.
