Hamilton's bid to host 2026 Commonwealth Games does not have province's support

The private group backing Hamilton's bid to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games stunned to find out the bid does not have the support of the province.

In an interview with the Spec, Flamborough Glanbrook MPP Donna Skelly says the games conflict with the province's hopes to land some World Cup games that same summer.

She says in light of the economic fallout from COVID-19, hosting two international sporting events in one summer would be too much.

Skelly suggests the bid team should look beyond 2026.
