The Rotary Club of Perth-Andover will name three new Paul Harris Fellows on Saturday April 4.

Rotarian Louiselle St. Amand, chair of the Paul Harris recognition committee, told the Victoria Star that Dirk bishop, Shelia Cummings and Susan Murchison will be honoured at the annual dinner at the Perth Elks Lodge.

The paper says Paul Harris Fellows are named in honour of one of the club's founders who championed humanitarian causes.

The club has also donated $1000 U.S in the name of each of the winners to the Rotary Foundation, which allows Rotary International to implement projects that address needs in communities around the world.

The Rotary International website says these efforts include vaccinating children, literacy programs for adults and children and giving teachers and children access to toilet facilities and clean drinking water.

The Victoria Star says the donations are known as Paul Harris Society gifts, and they also allow scholars to study ways to prevent maternal and child mortality, and bring together global professionals to discuss ways of resolving conflict and fostering peace.
