Acadian Peninsula man to be sentenced on attempted murder charge next month

An Acadian Peninsula man who pleaded guilty to attempted murder will have to wait until next month to learn his sentence.

49-year-old David Chiasson was arrested after police discovered a woman with serious injuries at a residence on Saint Paul Street in Bas-Caraquet back in April.

Chiasson was found fit to stand trial following a psychiatric assessment.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 8th.

A court-ordered publication ban is in place to protect the identity of the victim.
