Narrative Research says Atlantic Canadians are overwhelmingly in favour of a ban on single use plastics by the year 2021.

A survey shows that 9 out of 10 Atlantic Canadians support banning single-use plastics.

Narrative says the data breaks down as follows:
- 88% support a ban on plastic check out bags;
- 90% are in favour of a ban of plastic packaging on most consumer items (medications and packaging for food safety are exempt)
- 88% support a ban on single-use plastic items, like straws, cups, cutlery and takeaway food containers.

Support for each of these measures is high among all four Atlantic Canadian provinces.

The results are part of the Narrative Research Atlantic Quarterly, an independent, quarterly telephone survey of Atlantic Canadians, contacted from July 31 to August 25, 2019.

They are based on a sample of 1,500 adult Atlantic Canadians
