A former Bathurst middle school teacher charged in connection with cocaine trafficking in Northern New Brunswick has been sentenced to 90 days behind bars.

35-year-old Julie Michaud of Allardville pleaded guilty to possession of the proceeds of crime on Wednesday while several other charges were withdrawn.

The judge concluded that Michaud wasn't involved in selling or distributing the drugs, but rather 'helped' her partner, Danny Smith.

Smith faces eight charges relating to the case.

He also changed his plea on the charges to guilty on Wednesday and is scheduled to be sentenced on June 3.
