Foul play not suspected after human remains found at Fredericton landfill
Fredericton Police say foul play is not suspected in connection with the discovery of human remains at a landfill site on the outskirts of the city.
A spokesman for the department says investigators have identified the man and notified his family, but Mark Taylor would only say he was over the age of 50.
He says police don't know how or why the man was in a dumpster that was transported to the landfill, but police have been aware of people sleeping in dumpsters.
Taylor says exactly how and when the man died is still part of the investigation.
He says while foul play is not suspected, it has not been ruled out.
Police were called to the Fredericton Solid Waste Commission site on Alison Blvd. shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday, and officers remained on scene for most of the day Wednesday.
