It's 'Storm Preparedness Week' and the provincial government is reminding New Brunswickers they need to be prepared in case of an emergency.

Public Safety Minister Carl Urquhart says preparedness begins at home and that the province sees people are taking steps to ensure their families and communities are protected.

New Brunswickers should know the risks and evaluate the type of emergency that could affect them, create a plan for what to do when an emergency strikes, and to keep an emergency kit with 72-hours-worth of essentials on hand.

Meanwhile, the province's Emergency Measures Organization reminds New Brunswickers it can take time to reconnect them in the event of a power outage

A 72-hour guide is available online.

Storm Preparedness Week runs from November 3rd to
9th.
