Local Service District residents vote against merger with Saint-Quentin

Residents of the Local Service District near Saint-Quentin have voted against merging with the town.

On Monday, residents voted 30 to 24 against the merger for a voter turnout of approximately 87 per cent.

The regrouping would have affected approximately 90 residents and resulted in the region's two largest companies located within Saint-Quentin's town limits.

Though disappointed with the results, Saint-Quentin mayor Nicole Somers says the tight margin suggests citizens understood the importance of what was trying to be accomplished.
