Man charged with aggravated assault following Lagacéville home invasion


A 30-year-old man from the Esgenoôpetitj First Nation is facing several charges in connection with a home invasion and aggravated assault in Lagacéville last week.

The Neguac RCMP received a 911 call shortly before 1:30 a.m. on January 3rd regarding a home invasion and robbery on Drisdelle Settlement Road.

An altercation took place between the suspect and the homeowner after the man broke in and stole a number of items, during which the suspect was shot.

The suspect, Lee Alexander Mitchell, was identified, arrested, and taken to hospital for treatment.

Police say the homeowner was also injured and transported to hospital.

Mitchell faces a number of charges including break and enter, robbery, aggravated assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and uttering threats.
