Maritimers prepare for potential snow storm

It could turn out to be a busy week for tire shops in the region as Maritimers prepare for a potential storm over the region later in the week.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement as a storm will likely develop Friday and affect New Brunswick into the weekend.

While it's too soon to provide specific details on precipitation, there is a good possibility of accumulating snow, heavy rain and strong winds.

CTV Meteorologist Kalin Mitchell says it could be a heavy snowfall for some areas and will really begin to experience this chill Thursday night into Friday morning.

He says it looks like a path through the southwest of Nova Scotia or up the Bay of Fundy is most likely.

That would bring the highest chance of a heavy snowfall (15 or more centimetres) across central and southern New Brunswick, western P.E.I., and possibly northern Nova Scotia (Cumberland/Colchester Counties).

A shift further west with that track would push the chances of heavy snow into far northern New Brunswick and possibly even Quebec.
