New Year's call volume low for Bathurst Police Force

Bathurst Police, New Brunswick

It was a relatively quiet New Year's Eve and Day for members of the Bathurst Police Force.

Cst. Jeff Chiasson says the volume of calls was low this year, however the types of calls received were a little more time-consuming than last year, noting an alleged standoff on King. Ave. on New Year's day.

He says there were no arrests for impaired driving with a single call about a driver possibly under the influence.

Though difficult to say for certain, Chiasson is hopeful the low volume of calls regarding impaired driving is due to programs like Operation Red Nose, which he says will be promoted even more next year in an effort to make the roads even safer for motorists and pedestrians alike.
