On the run inmate arrested
Correctional Service Canada says 66-year-old Jack Woods, the inmate who failed to return to the minimum security unit at Dorchester Penitentiary in August has been recaptured.
In a release, the prison service says Woods was arrested around 2:45 p.m. on September 6 by members of the Tantallon Detachment of the RCMP.
He is in police custody and is in the process of being returned to federal custody.
Correctional Service Canada says it is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,
Woods was granted an unescorted temporary absence from the minimum security unit on August 22 and failed to retun to a Community Based Residential Facility in Moncton.
He was serving an intermediate sentence for manslaughter and first degree murder.
