Sixteen propane-fuelled school buses ordered by New Brunswick's government are expected to be transporting students on the first day of school on Tuesday.

The industry promoting use of the fuel systems say propane school buses emit lower greenhouse gases.

The pilot project has been set up by the province's Education Department.

The propane buses will be in service throughout the Moncton and Dieppe region.
