Rain and snow coming to N.B. starting Thursday

Environment Canada

Environment Canada says a fall storm will develop on Thursday and get stronger as it tracks through Atlantic Canada Friday and into the weekend.

A Special Weather Statement issued on Wednesday morning is calling for rain over southern portions of the province first, before changing to snow later on Friday.

Forecasters say 15 to 30 mm of rain could be followed by 10-20 cm of snow.

The weather agency says snow will prevail over northern portions of the province, but accumulations could be more significant in the south before the snow ends on Friday night.

CTV Atlantic Meteorologist Kalin Mitchell says there is still some uncertainty on the track of the storm, adding the heavier snow could track west or east.

A shift in the trajectory of the storm would result in significant changes to the forecast rain and snow amounts.
