RCMP turn to public for help solving nine-year-old helicopter arson
The Campbellton RCMP hopes members of the public may be able to with its investigation into a fire that destroyed a helicopter in Menneval back in August 2010.
Police say witnesses reported what sounded like a loud bang prior to the start of the blaze and that their investigation determined it was deliberately set.
The helicopter, which had been contracted for herbicide spraying, was on the ground at the time and was completely destroyed in the fire.
Though nobody was injured, Cst. Adam MacDonald says the incident put people's safety at risk and that the crime resulted in the loss of property worth hundreds-of-thousands of dollars.
Police say a reward of up to $12,000 is up for grabs for information leading to an arrest.
Anybody with information is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
