Combined 59 charges laid on four people as kidnapping investigation continues in Quinte West

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says they have charged three individuals and have obtained a warrant for an additional accused in connection to a kidnapping investigation near Trenton.

OPP explained that on November 22nd, 2023, at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Meyers Creek Road, Quinte West. The investigation revealed that one of the vehicle occupants had been forcibly confined against their will by a group of individuals, who fled the scene at the time of the collision.

The OPP's Emergency Response Team, Tactics and Rescue Unit, Canine Unit, and Aviation Services were dispatched to assist in the search. Police say as a result three people have been taken into custody and a warrant has been issued for an additional accused. A total of 59 charges were laid as a result.

Quinte West resident, 35-year-old Michael Goddard was charged with the following offences:

- Kidnapping
- Forcible confinement
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (Eight counts)
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Failure to comply with an undertaking (Two counts)

Adam McNight, a 31-year-old from Central Hastings is facing the following charges:

- Kidnapping
- Forcible confinement
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Failure to comply with a release order
- Failure to comply with a probation order

The third person arrested, 32-year-old Joshua Pero from Stone Mills was charged with the following offences:

- Kidnapping
- Forcible confinement
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Obstructing a peace officer
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (Five counts)
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Dangerous operation 
- Failure to comply with a release order
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance - Other drugs

Meanwhile, the fourth person involved, 42-year-old Jessie Draker, is wanted for the following offences:

- Kidnapping
- Forcible confinement
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order 
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Failure to comply with a probation order - Two counts
- Obstructing a peace officer

The three accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
