Impaired driver charged in Laurentian Valley, Twp. OPP seize weapons and drugs in vehicle

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) have laid numerous charges after conducting a traffic stop in Laurentian Valley Township after responding to an impaired driver call.
OPP explained that they received the call on November 4th, 2023 around 2:40 a.m., reporting a possibly impaired driver in the area of Pembroke Street West. Officers were able to locate the vehicle a short time later and stopped the car.
As part of the investigation, OPP says a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing. Additionally, police seized brass knuckles and pepper spray during the course of the investigation.
As a result of the traffic stop and investigation, the person behind the wheel, 42-year-old Erica Goersch from Mansfield, Quebec was arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
- Possession of a prohibited device - two counts
- Drive a vehicle with cannabis in open original packaging.
OPP says the accused had their driver's licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 12th, 2023.
