Pembroke Fire Department, TSSA team up for carbon monoxide awareness

CKTB News- Carbon Monoxide

65% of all Carbon Monoxide (CO) incidents occur in people's homes, and local departments are coming together to raise awareness. The Pembroke Fire Department and the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) have teamed up, along with other departments across Renfrew County, with the goal of increasing CO awareness in the community.

The safety campaign coincides with Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week and will run from November 1-14, 2023.

"While CO presents serious hazards, residents can essentially eliminate any potential harm by having fuel-burning appliances installed properly and inspected annually through the services of a TSSA-registered fuels contractor and by installing working CO alarms," says Kelly Hart, The Director of Fuels Safety with the TSSA.

Renfrew County residents will receive safety messages delivered through local media and on various social media platforms. All County of Renfrew fire departments will also be providing additional fire and CO safety information as part of their ongoing public education initiatives.
