Stolen vehicle recovered as OPP lay 8 charges on Hwy. 401
Ontario Provincial Police in Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry have released details on a recent arrest that involved stolen vehicles and flight from OPP officers.
OPP explained that on November 29th, 2023, shortly after 7:00 a.m. officers recovered a stolen motor on Highway 401 that was heading eastbound in the South Stormont Township. Further investigation revealed that the motor vehicle was stolen from Mississauga.
As a result, the person behind the wheel, 21-year-old Manasseh Kebede from Lasalle, Quebec was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of Break In Instruments
- Flight from a peace officer
- Failure to comply with a release order - four counts.
- Fail to Comply with a Probation Order
OPP says the accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Cornwall Justice Court at a later date.
